Synopsis

Philip K. Dick Collection brings together five of the legendary author’s most thought-provoking short stories, showcasing the origins of one of science fiction’s most influential voices. In this compelling anthology, Philip K. Dick explores fragile realities, hidden systems of control, and the unsettling question of what it truly means to be human.
From the chilling paranoia of “Adjustment Team,” where unseen forces quietly rewrite reality, to the darkly philosophical “Beyond Lies the Wub,” this collection probes the limits of free will, morality, and perception. “Beyond the Door” twists domestic normalcy into psychological horror, while “Mr. Spaceship” confronts the ethics of war, technology, and sacrifice. Rounding out the volume, “Of Withered Apples” offers a haunting glimpse into decay—both personal and societal—through Dick’s unmistakable lens of unease.
Written during the formative years of his career, these stories reveal the foundations of the themes that would later define Philip K. Dick’s work: unstable realities, oppressive systems, and ordinary people caught in extraordinary, often terrifying circumstances. Perfect for longtime fans and newcomers alike, Philip K. Dick Collection is an essential volume for readers who crave intelligent, unsettling science fiction that lingers long after the final page.

DICK (1928–1982) published 36 science fiction novels and 121 short stories in which he explored the essence of what makes man human and the dangers of centralized power. The recipient of critical acclaim and numerous awards throughout his career, including the Hugo and John W. Campbell awards, Dick was inducted into the Science Fiction Hall of Fame in 2005, and between 2007 and 2009, the Library of America published a selection of his novels in three volumes. His work has been translated into more than twenty-five languages.
