Berens's seminal work offers something for anyone interested in Greek and Roman mythology, whether they are just beginning to learn or are looking to add to already established knowledge.

About E. M. Berens

E.M. Berens was a scholar and an author who wrote more than a half a dozen books on Greek and Roman mythology. Unlike other Classics scholars of his time, he wrote accessible stories that explored the myths and other oral traditions of ancient peoples rather than simply researching the history of their worship of the gods. Still, I picked it for its short chapters so I suppose I......more

However, I read it to refresh my memory of ancient mythology before settling down to read The Iliad, and I am amazingly glad I did. Berens has done an exc......more
