The Long Way I Came

What if the long way wasn’t a detour—but the way you became who you were meant to be?The Long Way I Came is a deeply personal memoir about identity, resilience, belonging, and the winding road back to yourself.Andrea Haney Poole traces the experiences that shaped her—from childhood instability and learning to read the room, to achievement, caregiving, loss, masking, and the slow realization that surviving and succeeding are not the same as becoming whole. This isn’t a story about having everything figured out. It’s about what happens when you begin questioning the roles you learned to play, the definitions of success you inherited, and the conditions that taught you who you needed to be.Raw, reflective, and ultimately hopeful, The Long Way I Came invites listeners to consider their own journeys: what shaped them, what they’ve carried, what they’ve outgrown, and what might still be waiting for them on the road ahead.Sometimes the long way really is the way.
