Synopsis

This is an audio-enhanced version of Washington Irving's classic tale of horror and suspense, "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" - complete with sound effects and a musical soundtrack.

It relates the story of Ichabod Crane, the lanky Tarrytown schoolmaster who is vying for the hand of the local beauty Katrina Van Tassel, along with local strongman and bully Brom Bones. After attending a party at the Van Tassels' one fall night, Crane learns of the legend of the mysterious and spectral Headless Horseman, who rides by night and terrorizes those who dare to travel Tarrytown by night. Traveling home after the party that night, the superstitious (and romantically crestfallen) Crane spies a fellow rider in the woods. A rider...without a head!

An American Halloween tradition since its publication in 1820, Irving's tale is a classic of the genre and a thrilling holiday yarn.

About Washington Irving

Washington Irving (1783–1859) was an American author, short story writer, essayist, poet, travel book writer, biographer, and columnist. He is best known for writing the stories "Rip Van Winkle" and "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow." Other books written by Irving are Bracebridge Hall, Chronicles of the Conquest of Granada, A Tour of the Prairies, and The Life of George Washington, a five-volume title.

So, I've been going off of movies and cartoons as my reference to what The Legend Of Sleepy Hollow was all about. And if you haven't read it, you......more

The Legend of Sleepy Hollow might be one of the most perfect spooky tales to read, listen to, or tell on a cool October night. I listened to the whole thing on one, chilly, misty, fall walk. As the leaves fell from the trees and the dew from the fog condensed on my coat, I was transported to Sleepy......more
