Synopsis

In this superb thriller from #1 New York Times bestselling author James Rollins, Sigma Force must battle a group of rogue scientists who have unleashed a diabolical project that could bring about the extinction of mankind.Salvation . . . or annihilation? What if scientists could bio-engineer the next great world prophet—the next Buddha, Mohammed, or even Jesus? Would it mark the Second Coming or initiate a chain reaction leading to the end of mankind?Formed during the Cold War, a think tank of world scientists known as the JASONS have discovered a way to manipulate and enhance autistic children who show savant talents—mathematical geniuses, statistical masterminds, brilliant conceptual artists. Yet among their young patients a strange side-effect begins to arise. Before it can be analyzed fully, a rogue group of the JASONS begins their own secret experimentation with a cadre of the best children. Their goal, to create a world prophet for the new millennium, one who can be manipulated to create a new era of global peace . . . a peace on their own terms, that is. But such manipulation has grim consequences as a biological meltdown among the children begins to occur—turning the innocent into something far more frightening. To stop the JASONS before they engineer the extinction of mankind, Commander Gray Pierce of SIGMA Force races against time to solve a mystery that dates back to the first famous oracle of history—the Greek Oracle of Delphi. But can the past save the future?

About James Rollins

Veterinary Medicine is a very time consuming, stressful profession, especially for the owner of the veterinary practice. Author, James Rollins (aka James Paul Czajkowski) began his adult career with a DVM degree from the University of Missouri in 1985. He was then working as many as 18 hours a day, while writing on his lunch time, or any spare minutes he might find. For ten years he operated his practice, employing as many as 24 staff personnel, continuing to write during spare moments. One day, he decided to reverse the job and hobby routine. He began writing full time and spent a day or so per week volunteering to do neuter surgeries at the local SPCA.

Rollins began his storytelling very early as a child, so it came naturally to him by the time he made it his main career. His writing gives the reader a look into unseen worlds, mostly underground or underwater. His books are full of originality, scientific breakthroughs, as well as historical insight. All of this packed into a fast paced story line that is honed using his basic knowledge of science and medicine. That skill sets James Rollin's books apart from the others. He is a #1 New York Times bestselling author of international thrillers that are translated into over forty languages. His "Sigma" series is his most popular.

4 Stars to an Old Friend When I picked up The Last Oracle as my next read, I didn't realize that it had been nearly two years since I read the previous book in the Sigma Series. I was quite surprised to see how far I had fallen behind. Absence, as they say, only made the heart grow fonder. Pickin......more
