John Angus wants to marry Laura Hope. But Laura was previously courted by two men who she rejected for their appearances. One became very rich, but Laura can still occasionally hear the voice and strange laughter of the other man. A note appears threating murder of one of the men. Father Brown is called in and finds blood on the floor. Was it murder and if so, then how was it done?
