Synopsis

In The Hand of God, Murray Leinster delivers a tense and morally charged Western short story where justice, violence, faith, and duty collide. Set against the heat and pressure of a Southern night, the story follows a sheriff guarding an accused prisoner while an angry mob gathers outside, demanding swift revenge. As fear rises and the boundary between law and vengeance begins to blur, Leinster builds a gripping tale of conscience, courage, and the terrifying power of public fury.
