Synopsis

A REESE'S BOOK CLUB PICK“I loved this book. It gave me the same waves of happiness I get from curling up with a classic Christie...The alternating points of view keep you guessing, and guessing wrong.” — Alex Michaelides, #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Silent Patient""Evok[es] the great Agatha Christie classics…Pay close attention to seemingly throwaway details about the characters’ pasts. They are all clues.” -- New York Times Book ReviewA wedding celebration turns dark and deadly in this deliciously wicked and atmospheric thriller reminiscent of Agatha Christie from the New York Times bestselling author of The Hunting Party.

The bride – The plus one – The best man – The wedding planner  – The bridesmaid – The bodyOn an island off the coast of Ireland, guests gather to celebrate two people joining their lives together as one. The groom: handsome and charming, a rising television star. The bride: smart and ambitious, a magazine publisher. It’s a wedding for a magazine, or for a celebrity: the designer dress, the remote location, the luxe party favors, the boutique whiskey. The cell phone service may be spotty and the waves may be rough, but every detail has been expertly planned and will be expertly executed. But perfection is for plans, and people are all too human. As the champagne is popped and the festivities begin, resentments and petty jealousies begin to mingle with the reminiscences and well wishes. The groomsmen begin the drinking game from their school days. The bridesmaid not-so-accidentally ruins her dress. The bride’s oldest (male) friend gives an uncomfortably caring toast. And then someone turns up dead. Who didn’t wish the happy couple well? And perhaps more important, why?

About Lucy Foley

English author, Lucy Foley resides in London, but is an avid world traveler. Her love of different places is many times reflected in her writing. She says this passion is responsible for the appearance of some far flung locations in her writing.

Her latest novel is set in the Italian Riviera and uses the film world of the 1950's, which might be considered by some to be the heyday of the film industry. In her debut novel, she chose another interesting venue to write The Book of Lost and Found in 2015.

On a trip to Connemara, where half of Lucy's family came from, the idea came to her to write The Hunting Party and three other novels. Lucy was in awe of the wild and rugged landscape on the islands, but they also seemed cut off creating thoughts of danger. Lucy immediately began plotting a new murder mystery about an island wedding, with no escape. Old friends and family are reuniting, with emotions running high.......what could possibly go wrong? Thus, sets the scene for The Guest List.

Lucy writes fiction for periodicals such as Sunday Times Style, Grazia, ES Magazine, Vogue US, Elle, Tatler, and Marie Claire.

Hell yeah! My choice for best thriller won big again! 🥳💜🎈 This book is a rule breaker for me because I usually hate two things in my readings: 1. Too many POVs: I get confused easily and don’t like having to go back to remember which character was the postman who rang twice or which character had som......more

Whenever I come across a murder mystery on an island, I just can't resist. The setting is positively atmospheric and who doesn't love a good locked-island mystery? There's something immensely appealing about a small group of people being stuck together with no escape while knowing that a murderer is......more

I was really pleasantly surprised by The Guest List. Loads of people I know have read and enjoyed it, but I was putting it off because of the five different perspectives. This almost never works for me. I just don't end up caring enough about the characters to be concerned about their fate. Oddly, th......more

People were gushing so much about this book that I gave in and read it. Personally, I think the book focused more on the characters themselves than the plot. For the first 200 pages, I wasn’t thrilled nor excited. The last 100 pages was a different story. It went crazy and got more twisted.......more
