Author, Greg Iles, even though born in Germany, grew up in Natchez, Mississippi. His father was a physician who was the Supervisor of the U.S. Embassy Medical Clinic, in Stuttgart, Germany. Being raised in Natchez, most of his novels were set in that area.
Greg graduated from the University of Mississippi and was active in a band called, "Frankly Scarlett"........ assuming taken from the most famous line of Rhett Butler in the movie, "Gone With the Wind". The band was somewhat successful, but Iles decided not to tour because of time spent away from family. With more time post band, Greg began writing. Since he also wrote lyrics, it was a convenient transition from song writing to novels.
His first novel was, "Spandau Phoenix", a suspense thriller about Nazis, Rudolf Hess. Then came the screenplay, "24 Hours", that was rewritten and renamed, "Trapped". It was after that that Iles was seriously injured in an automobile accident. He lost a leg below the knee, and requiring a three-year recovery. In that time span he wrote a trilogy that was set in Natchez, which featured former prosecutor, Penn Cage.
Iles came full circle when he joined a band comprised of other authors......quite a who's who......Dave Barry, Ridley Pearson, Stephen King, Scott Turow, Amy Tan, MitchAlbom, Roy Blount, Jr., and James McBride. Iles lives in Natchez with his wife and three daughters.

Top secret government agency is staffed by a few megalomaniacs with some variation on a plot to take over the world. Whistleblower catches on. Bad guys real......more

As an undergraduate student in Computer/Cognitive Science, I often wrestle with questions of ethics and unforeseen consequences concerning artificial intelligence. This book has a thrilling and thought provoking narrative. Through the last half, it wanders off course quite a bit from where I thought......more
