Synopsis

The “hardboiled detective” narrative voice was later used by author Dashiell Hammett in The Maltese Falcon, featuring Sam Spade, and the Thin Man series of stories.

About Dashiell Hammett

Dashiell Hammett (1894–1961) wrote what came to be called “hardboiled” crime fiction. His Continental Op stories first appeared in Black Mask magazine in the early to mid 1920s. He later became known for his Sam Spade stories (The Maltese Falcon) and the Thin Man series.
