Synopsis

The murder mystery and family tragedy that Freud called “the most magnificent novel ever written.”
When the ruthless landowner Fyodor Karamazov is murdered, the crime sends his three sons spiraling into crisis: Dmitri, the passionate sensualist locked in bitter rivalry with his father; Ivan, the fiercely rational skeptic; and Alyosha, the devout young novice. As the investigation and courtroom drama unfold, Dostoevsky transforms a tale of patricide into a profound portrait of Russian society at a moment of spiritual and cultural upheaval.
Both intimate and sweeping in scope, it remains one of the greatest achievements in world literature.
