Synopsis

New York Times bestselling author Susan Mallery is at her heart-stirring best in this witty, richly layered story about friendship, love, and breaking free.In high school, studious Jayne Scott and wild child Rebecca Worden became unlikely best friends—a tie that endured even after Rebecca fled her family to live overseas. After Jayne's mother passed away, she became part unpaid assistant, part surrogate daughter to the wealthy Wordens. But now, ten years later, Rebecca is coming home to L.A. to cause havoc for Elizabeth, the mother who all but rejected her. And Jayne finds herself pulled deeper into the Wordens' complicated family dynamics—especially when Rebecca's brother, David, returns as well.David is the man Jayne always wanted and knew she could never have. But when he gravitates toward her in spite of Elizabeth's protests, her vow to escape the family's shadow is put to the ultimate test. And as lies are shattered and true feelings exposed, Jayne must decide where loyalty ends, and love begins. . . .

About Susan Mallery

Author Susan Mallery is a New York Times best-selling author, and has written more than 80 Harlequin and Silhouette romance books, and a number of full-length romance novels. Unbelievably, she began writing in this genre after taking a class offered st a local community center entitled, "How to Write a Romance Novel". It seems almost too simplistic to believe. She now has more than 25 million books sold worldwide. She is known for creating characters who are as familiar as the people next door. They are usually involved in emotional, funny situations that the reader can easily identify with in their own lives.

Susan Mallery grew up in southern California, and admits to moving so many times that her friends used a pencil so her address could be easily changed. She is very much interested in animals and their well-being, so she incorporates various pets in her stories. Mallery's books have been translated into 28 languages. She lives in Washington state with her husband, two cats, and a small poodle who, as she describes it, "has delusions of grandeur".

An interesting side Story is that her friend, author Debbie Macomber gave her a bottle of champagne to open when she had her first New York Times #1 selling novel. In August 2015, she finally made the #1 list with her novel, Thrill Me, which debuted at the #1 spot. Mallery opened the champagne the night she found out the news, and raised a toast to Debbie and to her great readers who helped her reach that goal.

Susan Mallery always promises another year of happy books, and wishes her fans happy reading!

The best of Friends. from the title itself, I think that it is somehow catchy. And so, I borrowed this book from my friend. I borrowed it yesterday and today I had finished it. Actually, I started reading it in school, during our lunch break. As I was reading the first part, I find it somehow boring......more

3.75 Stars ⭐️ Just not quite 4. I enjoyed this fun fluffy book. I needed a lighter book after that last one I’d read. This was just what I needed. Jayne & Rebecca have been “best friends” for years but haven’t seen each other in over a decade. Jayne grew up poor. Rebecca is an heir to a jewelry stor......more

I loved this book until the end. Too much is left unfinished for my taste. I felt like one more chapter could have wrapped up what happened when Rebecca got to Dallas and whether or not she made amends with Jayne and David. I would have given 5 stars if not for the too abrupt ending.......more
