Synopsis

A children’s party. A disputed teddy bear. An astonishing shortage of grown-up behavior.

When little Ede Andros grabs another child’s toy at a suburban gathering, a small scuffle becomes a very adult affair. Wounded pride fuels sharp remarks, neighborly smiles give way to insults, and two fathers find themselves defending their families with their fists.

With sly humor and piercing insight, F. Scott Fitzgerald exposes the insecurities beneath respectable manners. Beneath the spectacle of competitive parenting and social embarrassment lies something more tender: the fierce, sometimes foolish love that binds parents to their children.

Narrated by Sue Fellows, The Baby Party captures the comedy and vulnerability of family life in a brief, memorable story. Fitzgerald’s portrait of marriage, status, and parental devotion remains as recognizable as it is entertaining.

A rewarding listen for fans of literary short fiction, domestic satire, and classic stories that balance wit with warmth.
