Seeds and Stars
Resting in Christ for Great Commission Service

What kind of spirituality actually sustains faithful mission work? Is it doctrinal precision, heartfelt devotion, cultural engagement, or something that unites them all? In Seeds and Stars, missionary theologian E. D. Burns brings together these often-separated emphases of Reformed Protestant thought to recover a balanced vision for Great Commission living.Drawing from confessional theology, pastoral experience, and cross-cultural ministry, Burns addresses the discouragement, burnout, and theological drift that often affect those engaged in missions. He argues that enduring fruitfulness flows from a deeply rooted trust in God’s sovereign grace, a clear grasp of the gospel, and a church-centered understanding of mission.Seeds and Stars calls readers to a unified vision of Christian life shaped by Scripture and sustained by the five solas of the Reformation.Inside this book you will find:A biblical framework for Great Commission spiritualityIntegration of confessional theology, piety, and missionGuidance for overcoming missionary discouragement and burnoutA church-centered vision for missions and sendingCritique of pragmatism and individualism in modern missionsEncouragement for faithful perseverance in gospel workAccessible yet theologically rich, this book is designed for missionaries, pastors, students, and churches seeking a more grounded, joyful, and enduring vision of life and ministry under Christ.
