Synopsis

Phoebe, a graphic artist in her thirties, has come to loathe her boss. To distract herself from being in her presence, Phoebe turns to her go-to workplace coping strategy: dreaming up sexual fantasies between her and a superior. When she later recounts this practice to her therapist, Phoebe is drawn back through her work history and the various fantasies she has concocted over the years. But will these escapades remain forever contained in the realm of Phoebe’s imagination?During a night in, Phoebe can’t stop herself from bragging about the powers of her dirty mind to her housemates, who are soon fascinated by what she has to say. A line of questioning leads Phoebe to recount what happened when she began working in her city’s public library. Though she had been hired as a library clerk, Phoebe’s boss decides to assign her to shelving duty, including early morning and late-night shifts. Often alone in the darkened building, Phoebe begins to imagine others appearing in the space with her, just around the corner of the shelves. These wonderings begin chastely, but drift into the erotic as Phoebe’s boredom deepens. What kind of catharsis will her fantasies provide this time?
