Adam Lindsay Gordon (1833–1870) was an Australian poet, horseman, and politician. Born in Gloucestershire, England, he migrated to Australia in 1853. Known for his bold and adventurous spirit, Gordon’s poetry often reflected themes of colonial life, nature, and human struggle. Despite his literary talent, he faced financial hardship and personal loss. Gordon died by suicide in 1870, leaving a lasting legacy in Australian literature. His contributions are commemorated with a bust in Poets’ Corner at Westminster Abbey.
