Ward Carroll flew F-14 Tomcats for fifteen years after graduating from the US Naval Academy. He was named Naval Institute Press Author of the Year in 2001 for his novel Punk’s War, the first book in the Punk trilogy, followed by Punk’s Wing and Punk’s Fight. He is also the host of the popular Ward Carroll YouTube channel.
Paul Heitsch is an audiobook narrator, a pianist, a composer, a sound designer, a producer, and a teacher. As a member of The Second City National Touring Company, he has performed with Chris Farley, Steve Carrell, Jane Lynch, and many others. Prior to becoming a narrator, he worked to produce hundreds of spoken-word products for companies like LeapFrog, VTech Kids, and Rosetta Stone.
I enjoy Ward Carroll's YouTube channel, and have a lot of respect for him. Unfortunately, Punk's War needed a few more passes before it got published. This story accurately depicts self absorbed jet pilots and the frequent frustrations of squadron life under bad leadership. It helps to be somewhat familiar with one or both of these facets to get full enjoyment out of the book, but it isn't completely necessary.......more
