Synopsis

A single-parent, second-chance romance from NYT and USA Today bestselling author A.L. Jackson   Izzy Lane was everything I never deserved.   Sweet and kind.   Beautiful in a way that stole my breath.   I started crawling through her window when I was just a boy to escape the brutality of my father.   She became my best friend.   My safe haven.   The girl I’d do anything to protect.   Only what she really needed protecting from was me.   I left town when Maxon Chambers broke my heart at seventeen.   For years, he refused my calls.   It devastated me even more when he pretended we’d never existed.   Thirteen years later, I’m back with the son he doesn’t know we share.   Now, he’s grown into a man I know I should resist, but who makes my knees weak.   Sexier than sin and more tempting than ever.   A detective on the Charleston force, he lives on the outside of safety, devoted to protecting the people of his city.   But with the way he’s looking at me now? I’m pretty sure what needs protecting is my heart.   Can we mend the pieces of us? Or will the danger that ruined our pasts steal the hope of our future…

My Reviews Can Also Be Found On: The Book Review Crew Blog I found this book incredibly frustrating for a few reasons. For one, I don't really like love triangles add in the fact that these are supposed to be the best of friends just made it worse and another thing I hate in romance books is the misc......more

Sin embar......more

There was something really lovely about this book! You could tell it was a newer author into writing but there was definitely something I really liked about this book - the forgiveness and memories element and I liked piecing together the past and present sections, a lovely easy read!......more

I have mixed feelings about this book, I really liked the last book by this author and whilst this one was a good read it didn’t quite hit me in the same way unfortunately. What I did like was the way this is written - Eve Ainsworth has a way of making you feel immersed in the characters, I really bo......more
