Synopsis

With the question lingering what happened to the evil Mad Aris Kracion, Adam and his team are preparing to follow the clues to an answer. But first, Adam takes a quick detour to help a stranded Summer, Monty, and Tidus get off the planet Sasin, the most dangerous place in the galaxy. It's a no big deal mission which quickly devolves into the beginning of the greatest challenge for Adam and his team.

Phantoms begins the next great story arc in the adventures of Adam Cain, where old enemies are resurrected and the goals and motivations of ancient creatures are finally revealed. It's a more complicated universe than first assumed where lost memories and phantom entities hold deadly secrets that should have stayed buried.

Both Adam and Summer are going through strange and not so subtle changes; Adam from the mind meld he did with the super mutant Panur, and Summer from her contact with the Essence of J'nae. Neither of them saw this coming, but both end up having to rely on their new superpowers for survival.

Phantoms is a high-energy, thrill-a-minute ride involving ancient enemies, desperate Cartel members, and the populations of entire planets in a mad rush to capture or kill our heroes.

First, I didn't know that it was a novel, a long horror story book, when I bought it. Honestly! Back then (1992), I was in a local......more

"En la tierra viven dioses maléficos cuyo poder duerme en la roca. Cuando despiertan, surgen como la lava, pero una lava fría, y fluyen y adquieren muchas formas. Entonces los hombres valerosos comprenden que solo son voces en el trueno, rostros en el viento, que se desvanecen como si nunca hubieran......more

Some pretty creepy parts, and a cool monster. But it dragged. Most of the novel is the characters speculating, theorizing, deducing and discussing the nature of the monster. There could have been less of this and more monster action. Working toward the climax turned into a chore because I was turned o......more

In 1979, Dean Koontz wrote a novel called Whispers which catapulted him to the bestseller list. Koontz's status in the publishing world shifted drastically; from a rather unknown suspense producer he became the hot stuff, and in 1981 Whispers rose to the top five of the New York Times paperback best......more
