NOT SO DISTANT PAST

Two women. One complicated past. And a future neither of them expected. Superintendent Steph Alston didn’t take her promotion because she was ambitious. She took it to escape. A broken marriage. A harrowing loss. Total disillusionment. Two years later, she’s rebuilt everything: her career, and a home that finally feels like hers. And lately, the libido she was sure had floated away on the tide has drifted back to shore. Then the past walks back into her world. Rohan Scattini spent her life fitting in. She learned quickly how to be pleasant, agreeable, and invisible—especially when it came to her patronising and domineering stepsister, Marta. Now, determined to start over, Rohan has a job in a new city, and is ready to reinvent herself. The only complication is one final favour she can’t refuse; a favour that drags old tensions, resurfacing truths, and unfinished business straight into her fresh start. As past and present collide, Steph and Rohan must decide to protect the lives they’ve carefully rebuilt, or risk everything for a love that refuses to stay buried.
