Synopsis

Mercenary Kate Daniels and her mate, Curran, the Beast Lord, are struggling to solve a heartbreaking crisis. Unable to control their beasts, many of the Pack’s shapeshifting children fail to survive to adulthood. While there is a medicine that can help, the secret to its making is closely guarded by the European packs, and there’s little available in Atlanta. Kate can’t bear to watch innocents suffer, but the solution she and Curran have found threatens to be even more painful. The European shapeshifters who once outmaneuvered the Beast Lord have asked him to arbitrate a dispute—and they’ll pay him in medicine. With the young people’s survival and the Pack’s future at stake, Kate and Curran know they must accept the offer—but they have little doubt that they’re heading straight into a trap…

Author Bio

When you have a husband-wife team of writers, reader interest is peaked. But, when the wife is a native born Russian, and the husband is a former communications sergeant in the U.S. Army, the rumor mill operates at full speed. Contrary to rumor, however, Ilona Andews I just a pseudonym for Ilona and Gordon, who met while in an English Composition 101 class in college. Gordon even says Ilona got a better grade than he did.

The couple has co-authored four NYT and USAT bestselling series books, and a #1 NYT bestselling in the urban fantasy of Kate Daniel's, a more rustic fantasy entitled the Edge, a paranormal romance called Hidden Legacy, and the free weekly serial Innkeeper Chronicles (that and other interesting details can be found on their website).

Gordon and one live in Texas with their two children and several dogs and cats.

Since the locale of this series is one of my favorite things about it, sending the gang on a quest to Eastern Europe was not a positive for me. The potentially cheating hero was annoying, too. This entry cant earn more than 3 stars from me. Hopefully they can reclaim their usual 4 star rating next time out.
