Synopsis

Fork the haters.

After being demoted to the position of "cleaner" for the SSF, Gem's not sure life gets much worse. But when she stumbles upon a level six demon in her last trimester hiding in downtown New Orleans, she realizes she was very, very wrong.

Apparently, maternal instincts apply even to demon babies.

Gem can't let the council destroy such an innocent creature. Even if it is destined to grow up and try to eat her someday. On a mission to protect, Gem must figure out who's opened a portal for high level demons and what it has to do with her own father's murder—all while juggling an infant with a penchant for pop music and eating human flesh.

Her new boss might have something to say about Gem's methods. Good thing her baby daddy has decided to step up and help out. Gem's learned firsthand, if you've never seen an alpha sporting a baby sling, you're missing out.

About Heather Hildenbrand

Heather Hildenbrand was born and raised in a small town in northern Virginia, where she was homeschooled through high school. (She's only slightly socially awkward as a result.) She writes paranormal and contemporary romance with plenty of abs and angst. Heather's books include the Season of the Witch series, the Starlight Duology, and the Supernatural Asylum series.

This felt like The King of Comedy in terms of drama. I definitely felt funny moments when it comes to people's reactions to events. They felt amusing, but I think there should've been more emotive expressions like there was at the end. But maybe that's because I feel humor a little easier when it co......more

Ok, so there's the one about this guy, Richard Pryor – I mean, Pryor Brice – who wants to be a comedian, but just can't get the slightest titter out of an open mic night audience. But when he's involved in a one-vehicle car crash, he seems to become a kind of zombified shell – with the soul of the g......more

A heavy-hitting family drama in the guise of a supernatural ghost/possession story. The original dramatic arc, the protagonist's road to fame and success as a stand-up comedian, takes the backseat in the last issue, which also skips forward in time 15 years, making the final conflict incredibly unde......more
