Synopsis

In the sixth novel in the New York Times bestselling Iron Druid Chronicles, two-thousand-year-old Druid Atticus O’Sullivan finds himself the target of two goddesses of the hunt and a trickster god determined to unleash the apocalypse.

“[Kevin] Hearne is a terrific storyteller with a great snarky wit. . . . Neil Gaiman’s American Gods meets Jim Butcher’s Harry Dresden.”—SFFWorld

For someone who’s been alive for two thousand years, Atticus O’Sullivan is a pretty fast runner. Good thing, because he’s being chased by not one but two goddesses of the hunt—Artemis and Diana—for messing with one of their own. Dodging their slings and arrows, Atticus, Granuaile, and his wolfhound, Oberon, are making a mad dash across modern-day Europe to seek help from a friend of the Tuatha Dé Danann. His usual magical option of shifting planes is blocked, so instead of playing hide-and-seek, the game plan is . . . run like hell.

Crashing the pantheon marathon is the Norse god Loki. Killing Atticus is the only loose end he needs to tie up before unleashing Ragnarok—AKA the Apocalypse. Atticus and Granuaile have to outfox the Olympians and contain the god of mischief if they want to go on living—and still have a world to live in.

About Kevin Hearne

Maybe being born and raised in Arizona has had an influence on American author, Kevin Hearne. Since many UFO stories come from the western states who have wide open spaces, maybe Hearne got the idea of being an urban fantasy novelist. Growing up hearing about UFO sightings perhaps gave him a bigger interest than most in the fantasy subject.

Hearne is the author of novels published by Del Rey in the fantasy book series, The Iron Druid Chronicles, plus the 2015 Star Wars novel, Heir to the Jedi. Prior to his writing career, he was a high school English teacher. He moved from Arizona to Colorado. He now lives there with his wife and son. He is known as a "tree hugger", likes dogs, and heavy metal.

Books to come out very soon are......Besieged, a collection of new Iron Druid stories, to be out July 11, and A Plague of Giants, the first book of The Seven Kennings, to be out in October.

Full review now posted! Olympians and Dark Elves and Vampires! Oh my! It takes a pretty enthralling story to have me glued to an audiobook and choosing to listen instead of reading a physical book on my own. Usually, audiobooks are for laundry and walking the dog and driving. At least, they are for me......more

I came into this book riding a high still left in me by the last great book I devoured, and I am a fond fan of the Iron Druid chronicles. I mean, sure, I used to do it for killing time in between Jim Butchers, just like everyone else. But despite its flaws, it had grown on me on its own two feet, and......more

Atticus is PIE Well.... everyone else liked this one the most, but I liked it a little less. There was even a part that I skimmed. Still see 4 stars though, because Oberon was just as funny: "That is a noble idea, though I think it far to generous," Jupiter said. "Once a decade should be sufficien......more

Another excellent entry in the series. The druids are hunted by a pantheon of gods (thanks for that Bacchus) and seem to find themselves in some pretty tight spots. The biggest problem it seems is that some of the gods seem to be in a ‘smite first, ask questions later’ kind of mood. Oh, and said god......more

It was so easy to slip back into this world and I had a great time going along on this a......more
