I have mixed feelings about this book. While the chapters that talked about empathetic statements and active listening were good (and fairly common sense), this book just didn't cut it for me. Many of the chapters focus on what I'll classify as very "soft" discipline/redirection. The dialogue examples may work sometimes, but overall were pretty unrealistic and unbelievable. Overall, it helped refresh a different perspective of parenting, but this is a perspective that has failed me multiple times. Following the guidelines in this book will only result in a child testing boundaries to see what he/she can get away with.
