Synopsis

From the author of The Iron Druid Chronicles comes a rollicking, all-new urban-fantasy adventure featuring Atticus O’Sullivan. Atticus has a history of messing with the gods, and in this eBook original novella, he’ll have to outfox a deity at her own deadly cat-and-mouse game.

When he’s not vanquishing villainous gods or dodging demons, two-thousand-year-old Druid Atticus O’Sullivan can be found behind the counter of Third Eye Books and Herbs in modern-day Tempe, Arizona, literally minding his own business. But when an evil sorcerer—and amateur shoplifter—snatches an ancient Egyptian tome of black magic, The Grimoire of the Lamb, Atticus is not sheepish about pursuing him to the ends of the earth . . . or at least to the Land of the Pharaohs.

Unfortunatel,y Atticus already has enemies in Egypt—including cat goddess Bast, who wants her own book of mischief back from the Druid. In the streets of Cairo, she sends a feline phalanx after Atticus and his Irish wolfhound, Oberon. With fur still flying, Atticus must locate the sorcerer’s secret lair—where he will face killer crocodiles, spooky sarcophagi, and an ancient evil Egyptian who’s determined to order the sacrificial lamb special tonight.

Includes a bonus recording of the short story Clan Rathskellar!

About Kevin Hearne

Maybe being born and raised in Arizona has had an influence on American author, Kevin Hearne. Since many UFO stories come from the western states who have wide open spaces, maybe Hearne got the idea of being an urban fantasy novelist. Growing up hearing about UFO sightings perhaps gave him a bigger interest than most in the fantasy subject.

Hearne is the author of novels published by Del Rey in the fantasy book series, The Iron Druid Chronicles, plus the 2015 Star Wars novel, Heir to the Jedi. Prior to his writing career, he was a high school English teacher. He moved from Arizona to Colorado. He now lives there with his wife and son. He is known as a "tree hugger", likes dogs, and heavy metal.

Books to come out very soon are......Besieged, a collection of new Iron Druid stories, to be out July 11, and A Plague of Giants, the first book of The Seven Kennings, to be out in October.

This is a short story that is part of a series. It is a prequel as the first novel in the series was published before this one. In this one Atticus travels to Egypt to retrieve an item that was swindled from him. I just started this series a little time ago and I enjoyed the first book. So I figured......more

Okay to start this review, I feel it necessary to give full disclosure that I am totally a Kevin Hearne fanpoodle. This means that this review will probably just consist of the obligatory fanpoodling that happens when one of a readers favourite author released a new book. Lucky for you, The Grimoir......more

3.5 stars Originally posted at FanLit. I don’t think it’s possible to get too much Atticus and Oberon. That’s why I love these little novellas that Kevin Hearne has been putting out while we wait for his next IRON DRUID novel. For those of you who don’t know, Atticus is an ancient druid who runs a boo......more

This level of bad guy deserved his own full length novel. A short story just didn't do the job. Gaia created Druids because of him and he's finally vanquished in four or five pages? Lame.......more
