Synopsis

With shades of The Hunger Games, Ender's Game, and Game of Thrones, debut author Pierce Brown's genre-defying epic Red Rising hit the ground running and wasted no time becoming a sensation. Golden Son continues the stunning saga of Darrow, a rebel forged by tragedy, battling to lead his oppressed people to freedom from the overlords of a brutal elitist future built on lies. Now fully embedded among the Gold ruling class, Darrow continues his work to bring down Society from within. A life-or-death tale of vengeance with an unforgettable hero at its heart, Golden Son guarantees Pierce Brown's continuing status as one of fiction's most exciting new voices.

About Pierce Brown

American science fiction author, Pierce Brown lived in seven different states growing up, which may have given him the edge needed to have a vivid imagination with which to entertain himself. He spent his childhood doing the normal kid things such as building forts and setting traps for friends in the woods, or in the desert. So, after graduating from Pepperdine University, he had plenty of pretend episodes to transfer into his first novel. He lived in his professor's garage where he wrote his first novel, Red Rising.

Brown majored in political science and had several jobs before becoming a true author. He had a variety of jobs in politics, was a page at NBC, worked as an errand person on the Disney lot at ABC, and was an aid with a US Senate campaign, which he says gave new meaning to the term sleep deprivation. He now lives in Los Angeles, where he spins tales of spaceships, wizards, ghouls, and many bizarre things.

Pierce Brown's works include: the Red Rising series.......Red Rising, 2014, Golden Son, 2015, Morning Star, 2016, Iron Gold, 2018, and Dark Age, 2019.

I praised Red Rising,......more

Warning: Snarkiness ahead, which might be offensive to anyone who actually enjoys this series. Everyone says the second book is better than the first, so I gave it a try. And I agree. If I squint hard enough, it is a smidge better. But it doesn't really improve enough to push it from "just ok" to "ac......more
