Synopsis

A new life for Lady Firebird...

Forced to forsake her royal heritage, Lady Firebird now faces new and powerful enemies.

Firebird is pregnant with twins when her new husband, Brennen Caldwell, is left as the only heir to ancient messianic prophecies.

Meanwhile, on another world, Firebird’s sister defects to the enemy camp and is made a prisoner. Brennen’s superiors ask him to try to rescue her, and Phoena’s desperate husband travels light-years trying to enlist Brennen’s aid. But Brennen is not tempted to comply … until a divine dream sends him exactly where he does not want to go.

[SPOILERS AHEAD] [Note: I am reviewing the original 1987 edition, which is apparently been significantly rewritten for the 2000 edition. There's some spiritual tones to this one but I don't think I could in any way classify it as christian lit.] [URL not allowed] Fusion Fire is the second nove......more

Things got really dark and intense in this book very quickly. I didn't expect that, but I think it was all handled well. It flows well from the first book. Again, I find myself looking forward to reading the rest.......more

Quotes

"The innovative use of musical metaphors is highly effective in portraying God as the being who sang the universe into creation, and Mari's continuing journey toward belief realistically portrays a woman of war struggling to understand the Lord of Peace. The Firebird series is the most original Christian [science fiction] series to appear in years and belongs in every collection." — Library Journal
