Synopsis

From "the standard-bearer of alternate history" (USA Today) comes the second installment in an all new series, set in an alternate 1950s in which General MacArthur ignites a nuclear war that nearly destroys the planet. With the destruction of Paris by the Russian bombers, an already hot war ramps up to scalding. And even those whose lives have not yet been substantially touched by the war now find themselves in the midst of a living hell as Russia and the US continue to raise the stakes, wiping more and more cities off the face of the globe forever.

Originally posted at: [URL not allowed] Bombs Away by Harry Turtledove was a good, if flawed, book. That being said, how does its sequel, Fallout, hold up to the original? Our story continues (and maybe skip the next two paragraphs if you haven’t read Bombs Away) immediately aft......more

Harry Turtledove is a brilliant alternate history writer. Which should come as no surprise, as he's a professional historian. His new Hot War series is probably the most brilliant idea for an alternate history I've ever seen. Most nuclear war novels and movies treat nuclear war as an hour-long event......more
