M. C. Beaton, hailed as the “Queen of Crime” by the Globe and Mail, was the author of the New York Times and USA Today bestselling Agatha Raisin novels—the basis for the hit series on Acorn TV—as well as the Hamish Macbeth series. Born in Scotland, Beaton also wrote nearly one hundred historical romances under several pseudonyms. Her books have been translated into nineteen languages and sold more than twenty-two million copies worldwide.
Graeme Malcolm was an actor and winning audiobook narrator who earned twelve AudioFile Earphones Awards. He has performed on Broadway as Pharaoh in Aida and as Sir Edward Ramsay in The King and I. His television appearances include Law & Order, Follow the River, and Mr. Halpern and Mr. Johnson (with Laurence Olivier). His film credits include A Further Gesture, The Adventures of Sebastian Cole, and Reunion.

This one has a sickening ending about a septic system which was not funny to me but probably was to M. C. Beaton. I did enjoy the villainess getting eaten by a shark. She was in a rare mood with her writing in this one. I would not really rate this one as "cozy".......more
I've been reading reviews about Beaton's Hamish Macbeth for a long time, but just now got around to reading one of this amusing series myself. There's a long list of titles to choose from but this one happened to catch my eye first. I'm of Scottish ancestry so anything set in Scotland is bound to ple......more
“Cozy fans who value amusing characters over intricate plotting will be well satisfied.” Publishers Weekly
“The Scottish highlands that Beaton depicts with such skill are beautiful and sinister, a fitting backdrop to her Hamish Macbeth series and especially to this one, her twenty-sixth craggy-cozy…Great stuff, as usual.” Booklist
“Malcolm’s reading makes it obvious the story takes place in Scotland. His authentic brogue is melodious, gentle, and clear as a bell.” Booklist, audio review
“Apart from the puzzle, Hamish’s latest advances the career and love life of the clever, stubborn Scot.” Kirkus Reviews
