Synopsis

(HENRIE O MYSTERY)

Henrietta O'Dwyer Collins, better known as "Henrie O", has experienced much sadness and loss in her life - yet nothing more tragic than the sudden death six years ago of her husband, Richard, on Kauai. Then, on a brisk March morning, a package arrives by courier that shatters her fragile peace of mind - a chilling message that claims Richard's fatal fall from a towering island cliff was no accident. It was murder. It is news that enrages the normally self-contained Henrie O, and creates a summons she cannot ignore. She follows cryptic clues and her infallible instincts to a secret-shrouded tropic Eden -- a lush and verdant Pacific paradise where giant palm fronds hide evil deeds from inquisitive eyes and the soft, salt-scented ocean breeze whispers of treachery and death.

It was the writing style more than anything and unfortunately, I think it took away from the story for me. Too much description and an almost obsession with 'threes'......more

This was the first Carolyn Hart mystery I read. I chose it because we were going to vacation on Kauai and this story is set there. I was impressed with Hart's ability to follow in Dame Agatha's footsteps - she laid out the clues, threw in red herrings, fooled me into thinking I knew who had done it,......more

This was my first henrie o mystery. It started a little slow for me, but then it got really good. VERY details- much more in-depth than the cheeky murder mystery I was expecting. I will be looking for the others in the series.......more
