Synopsis

Return to the enchanting Pacific Northwest town of Friday Harbor in New York Times bestselling author Lisa Kleypas’s Crystal Cove where two people learn that fate isn’t written in stone when they’re woven together by the magic only love can bring. . . On an island off the coast of Washington State, Justine Hoffman runs a B&B, sharing the beauty of the region that has become her home. After spending her childhood in thrall to the wandering whims of her mother Marigold, Justine settled down to live her own life. Still, Justine’s heart is restless. Love remains elusive, a dream always out of reach.Jason Black is a millionaire videogame developer. A driven workaholic, he’s in Friday Harbor on business, not to sightsee—no matter how tempting it is to relax in the company of his B&B host. And as Jason gets to know Justine, he finds himself off balance with a desire that threatens to expose his long-buried soul. But Justine is incapable of letting Jason or anyone else into her heart. From the day she was born, she has been bound by a spell that prevents her from finding true love. And freeing herself from the cruel curse could unleash dangers that would consume the very love she wants with Jason.

About Lisa Kleypas

Lisa Kleypas, an American author, was born in 1964, and chose the genre of Historical Romantic Novels to begin her writing career. Even when her and her mother's Texas homes were taken by a devastating flood, they both went to buy the necessities, and for both of them that included a romance novel. After her graduation from Wellesley College in Political Science, Lisa published her first book at age 21. She has been very successful writing for Avon Books with her representative being the prestigious William Morris Agency.

Lisa has been writing full time since selling that first book at 21 years of age. She has sold millions of copies around the world, and has won many writing achievement awards over the years. One non-writing achievement came when she was Miss Massachusetts in the Miss America Pageant in 1985. At only 5'2", it was a challenge to wear a banner on which was printed one of the longest state names. She did win a "talented non-finalist" award for singing an original song.

Lisa decided in 2006 to temporarily change her writing genre to contemporary romance, but she did say she plans to return to historical romance in the future. Her list of published books keeps growing, with her 2012 book, "Christmas Eve at Friday Harbor" being made into the Hallmark movie, "Christmas With Holly". In 2015, she was given the honor of emceeing the Romance Writers of America Award Show. Lisa lives in Washington with her husband, Gregory, and their two children.

In fact, I am slightly miffed that the series took this giant plunge off the deep end. With that said, I can't say I wasn't e......more

I'll tell you a little secret. This is my first Lisa Kleypas book. I generally don't read contemporary romance, but the description on this felt a little PNR-ish and I have long heard positive things about this author. So I figured this was a great opportunity to give her a try. Take a look at the b......more

Images of Friday Harbor, Washington. [image error] [image error] ★★★★☆ (This is a review of the audiobook.) Oh! I’m so relieved. I read a couple of negative and hesitant reviews (although not about the audiobook) of the latest release in Lisa Kleypas’ Friday Harbor series, Crystal Cove. Let me reassure......more

2-1/2 stars, rounded up Justine Hoffman is successful on the surface of her life: she owns an inn on the Pacific Coast, and is healthy and materially comfortable. But everyone around her seems to be finding their soulmates, while she’s alone, and lonely, longing for her own true love. Sure she’s had......more
