Synopsis

Mary Golda Ross designed classified airplanes and spacecraft as Lockheed Aircraft Corporation's first female engineer. This story traces her journey from being the only girl in a high-school math class to becoming a teacher to pursuing an engineering degree, joining the top-secret Skunk Works division of Lockheed, and being a mentor for Native Americans and young women interested in engineering. In addition, this story highlights Cherokee values such as working cooperatively, remaining humble, and helping ensure equal opportunity and education for all.

About DeLanna Studi

DeLanna Studi is an actress, voiceover artist, and proud citizen of the Cherokee Nation. She wrote and performed And So We Walked, a play based on retracing her family's footsteps along the Trail of Tears with her father, which has been produced at Triad Stage and Portland Center Stage. The recipient of the 2016 MAP Fund Grant and a Cherokee Preservation Foundation Grant, she serves as chair of SAG-AFTRA's National Native Committee.

About John Ross

John Ross is a translator specialist for the Cherokee Nation Education Services, where he contributes to the development of educational materials for all departments of the Cherokee Nation. Raised in a rural Cherokee community, he is bi-literate in Cherokee and English. The recipient of the 2014 Cherokee National Treasure Award, he is a member of Crescent Valley Baptist Church.
