Synopsis

It began as a game, a treasure hunt in an old German castle. For the beautiful and brilliant Vicky Bliss, it was also a challenge, a chance to bring an arrogant young man down a notch or two. And all things considered, it would have been no contest. The prize was a centuriesold shrine carved by Tilman Riemenschneider, probably Germanys greatest master of the late Gothic period. The place was the forbidding Schloss Drachenstein, where the stones were stained with ancient blood and the air reeked of evil. The problem was that someone was targeted, and the game was soon being played in deadly earnest.

In 2003, she received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Malice Domestic Convention.

I had lost track of the difference between heroines Vicky Bliss and Jacqueline Kirby, and decided to refresh my memory, since my library has both short series in e-book now. Since I first rea......more

I had a really hard time with this novel. The story took forever to go anywhere and all of the characters were kind of jerks most of the time. Indeed, I very nearly quit about halfway through as I just didn't care about anything—not the characters, not the setting, certainly not the "mystery". And I......more

I’ve enjoyed my first encounter with Elizabeth Peters. The funny thing is, I collected a great deal of her books a long time ago. I sifted through my shelf only recently, determining which series belonged together and other works. It is worth the wait and I am eager to delve into her novels much mor......more
