Author, Nora Roberts was born Eleanor Marie Robertson, on October 10, 1950 in Silver Spring, Maryland. For more than three decades Roberts has published more than 200 titles in the romantic novel category. She wrote her first story during the blizzard of 1979, when she was snowed in at her home. The first novel, Irish Thoroughbred, was published just two years later. Then, the next two years brought 23 more published novels, and she finally caught the public's eye in 1985. That last novel, "Playing the Odds" gave Roberts a "fan favorite" status and transformed the romance novel category.
Roberts has two sons by her first marriage, and married her second husband, Bruce Wilder, in 1985. From 1991 to 2001, all 68 novels she published made it onto the New York Times best seller list. In 2000 alone she had 13 best sellers, several making it into number one. She also writes futuristic romantic suspense under the pen name of J.D. Robb. Many of her novels have been adapted into TV movies. She was inducted into the Romance Writers of America Hall of Fame on 1986. She currently owns the Inn at BoonsBoro in Boonsboro, Maryland. The suites are each inspired by and for romantic couples from books. FYI......she has a fear of flying and is an ardent baseball fan.
I loved this book so much that I'm hoping Nora Roberts adds a sequel - it was a great read!
I usually like to read the book before I see the movie, but I did it backwards this time. I still found the book much more telling than them movie. A very good listen
This is my first book from Nora Roberts and my last one. She started the book developing the character of Reena, smart, with a mind of detail, memory and skills for listening and researching. But the time she was 31 all these skills are gone, during this years she had several relations and they all had problems with smoke, they died, or the car got destroy, but not she did not even smell the problem. Joey some one that was in prison 80 of his life was smarted that her, plus he was invisible, he can pass around all the cops from town and no one will see him.........well the last 3 CDs are so annoying that i wonder how the book got 4 stars.
Nora’s books are one of my most reliable cures at times when my brain begs for a much needed rest. All of us readers have this amazing capacity to shut down and unplug, and for me, the best way to achieve this state of complete detachment from my everyday troubles is through one of Nora’s books. Prior to reading a book, especially when I have several other books to read on my "to-read" shelf, I check out Amazon.com's reviews. There were quite a few positive reviews for this book but more than a fair share of people slamming the book for one reason or another. Not certain what I was getting......more
So disappointing in so many ways. The story is spread out over twenty years and takes way, way too long getting to the "present" (2005). Roberts spends lots of time in key time periods that, sure, are integral to the story, but there is just so very much piled in. I feel like what should have been v......more
