Peter Lovesey is the author of the Peter Diamond mysteries, the Sergeant Cribb mysteries, and the Bertie, Prince of Wales novels. He was awarded the Cartier Diamond Dagger, Grand Prix de Litterature Policiere, the Anthony, and the Ellery Queen Readers' Award, and is Grand Master of the Swedish Academy of Detection. He has been a full-time author since 1975, and was formerly in higher education. Peter currently lives in Chichester, England.

Peter Diamond is bored. Then a crime ring dares the police to stop their next heist. Then a body is found in a padlocked houseboat. To make things more complicated, a club that discusses crime novels inserts itself into the situation. Not bad. One can see why the series caught on.......more
This was a joy to read. This book features a crime fiction book club as suspects. It's Peter Diamond #4, but it could read without reading the rest of the books.
