AN OUNCE OF HOPE tells the story of Carter's best friend, Max O'Hare. Max can't seem to let go of his past, including the death of both his parents, his drug habit, his broken heart over the death of his unborn son and the loss of his relationship with Lizzie Jordan--the woman he knows he will never get over, and the reason he now has nothing to live for. Struggling to find his way after successfully completing rehab and learning to explore his deepest fears and dreams through art, Max meets Grace Brooks. With her love of art, fast cars and photography, Grace appears to be the perfect girl. Yet no one knows where she came from, or why she won't tell anyone about her past. Max and Grace slowly allow each other in, but will Max fully open up and let go of his past? Or will his heart remain closed forever?
