Those who are familiar with the adventures of Lois McMaster Bujold's Miles Vorkosigan would reasonably expect action-packed, bombastic fare of espionage, space opera and just general mayhem that would ensue in Miles' wake. This book is a change from the previous entries in that it is modeled more like a romantic comedy or farce in the tradition of ensemble comedies. So, those who reading this book expecting more of Miles' craziness won't be disappointed but those not expecting the more light-hearted change of tone will be. However, Lois McMaster Bujold is as skillful at making you laugh at Miles' romantic antics as she is with his bouncing around space like a pinball. The evolution of Miles into a more sedentary lifestyle compared to the previous entries of him romping through space is a reasonable extension of Miles' evolution and is enjoyable to read as one who has read most, if not all, of the Vorkosigan Saga.

Buddy read with Choko and Evgeny. Romantic Comedy the Vorkosigans' style! This is probably the most hilarious book in the entire series but if you were looking for the space opera style of the earlier books you'll be disappointed. In the two previous books Miles moved to a new stage in his life and t......more
