Synopsis

The "queen of beach reads” (New York Magazine) presents nine captivating stories of summer on Nantucket—and days that last forever—to carry us through when those warm sandy days feel far off.

Inside the collection, you'll find: • Three years after Mallory Blessing's death (in 28 Summers), her friends gather for another eventful Labor Day celebration on Nantucket in "The Sixth Wedding." • The marriage at the heart of Beautiful Day enters uncertain territory when Margot Carmichael encourages her husband to reunite with his ex-girlfriend in "The Surfing Lesson." • In "The Tailgate" the weekend of a Harvard/Yale football game recharts the course of "Matchmaker" Dabney Kimball's first—and abiding—true love. •  In "Summer of '79," the three Levin sisters reunite after a decade after the summer that changed everything. •  And more . . .  With a foreword by Elin Hilderbrand about the writer's reluctance to leave treasured characters behind and a prefatory, "behind-the-scenes" note included with each story, this book answers the prayers of both new and seasoned readers everywhere who, like the Kirkus reviewer, "would rather be living in an Elin Hilderbrand novel."

About Elin Hilderbrand

Elin Hilderbrand was born and raised in Collegeville, PA, but spent most of her childhood summers playing on Cape Cod. Her father died in a plane crash when she was sixteen years old, so unfortunately that ended the Cape trips. Her summers were now spent working, but she promised herself that for the rest of her life she would always have a real summer. She moved to Nantucket in July 1993, took a job as "the classified ads girl" at a local paper, and later started writing. Elin says she does her best writing while on the beaches of Nantucket or along the beautiful streets of Beacon Hill in Boston. She is a breast cancer survivor and currently lives in Nantucket along with her three beautiful children.

This is a collection of short stories, which either is a prequel to a book she has written, or an extra chapter to a book that she has written. It is hard for me to remember the plots of all of her books, but some of the short stories were very familiar, and I remembered the stories. The names were......more

I normally love Elin Hilberbrand’s books - I am a big fan. But this book just seemed like a money grab to me. And if you haven’t read all the books these lost chapters go with, they don’t mean that much. And some of these were already published as independent works I paid for previously. I only felt......more
