Synopsis

Today’s world is built off basic technology. Switches, resisters, circuits, and boards allow electrical current to travel to specific places within a device resulting in specific actions taking place. An example of this would be a light switch. When we flip a light switch in either direction, we will either turn on the light or turn it off. Understanding why this occurs and what can be done with this simple technology is the basis for tools like the Arduino. What Is an Arduino? An Arduino is a low-cost open-source microcontroller board which is programmed using the Arduino IDE. It is basically a microprocessor with I/O pins that allows you to control external devices and sensors. You can use it to create anything from a simple robot to a complex video game. The Arduino is designed to be used with other electronic components such as resistors, capacitors, transistors, LEDs, push buttons, and relays. The Arduino can also be used with temperature sensors, accelerometers, GPS modules, etc. Arduino will teach children and adults how the basics of our world function and operates. On top of this, the Arduino is fun. It is a great way to create things that are deep within our imaginations. Kids can purchase one of these devices and, after a few hours, create video games, robots, remote- controlled cars or anything that their imagination can dream up. The Arduino is popular over other development options because the end user doesn’t have to write any programming code. This makes the barrier to entry much lower and more attractive to those who simply want to create something and have it work. Who Should Use These? Anyone who is interested in creating fun and engaging projects. This can be kids, adults, teachers, or professionals. These little devices can quickly become addicting and, when networked together, allow end users to create amazing projects.
