Stephanie Plum is thinking her career as a fugitive apprehension agent has run its course. She's been shot at, spat at, cussed at, fire-bombed, mooned, and attacked by dogs. Time for a change, Stephanie thinks. Time to find the kind of job her mother can tell her friends about without making the sign of the cross.

So Stephanie Plum quits. Resigns. No looking back. No changing her mind. She wants something safe and normal. As it turns out, jobs that are safe and normal for most people aren't necessarily safe and normal for Stephanie Plum. Trouble follows her, and the kind of trouble she had at the bail bonds office can't compare to the kind of trouble she finds herself facing now. Her past has come back to haunt her. She's stalked by a maniac returned from the grave for the sole purpose of putting her into a burial plot of her own. He's killed before, and he'll kill again if given the chance. Caught between staying far away from the bounty hunter business and staying alive, Stephanie reexamines her life and the possibility that being a bounty hunter is the solution rather than the problem. After disturbingly brief careers at the button factory, Kan Klean Dry Cleaners, and Cluck-in-a-Bucket, Stephanie takes an office position in security, working for Ranger, the sexiest, baddest bounty hunter and businessman on two continents. It might not be the job she'll keep for the rest of her life, but for now it gives her the technical access she needs to find her stalker. Tempers and temperatures rise as competition ratchets up between the two men in her life---her on-again, off-again boyfriend, tough Trenton cop Joe Morelli, and her bad-ass boss, Ranger. Can Stephanie Plum take the heat? Can you?

Between the adventure and the adversity there's attitude, and Stephanie Plum's got plenty in her newest misadventure from Janet Evanovich, Eleven on Top.

About Janet Evanovich

Janet Evanovich was born Janet Schneider on April 22, 1943 in South River, New Jersey. She routinely appears on both the New York Times and Amazon Bestseller Lists and has a devoted following of readers. Using the pen name Steffie Hall, she published her several short romance novels. She later struck gold with her popular ‘Stephanie Plum’ Series – the twenty second book in the series, (‘Tricky Twenty Two’) will be released this November. After the third book in the series, Evanovich started running contests for her readers to suggest names for the next book. Each Plum book since that time has been named by a fan. The heroine, Stephanie Plum becomes a bounty hunter in her hometown of Trenton, New Jersey by bribing her pervert cousin Vinnie for a job after she is laid off as a lingerie buyer. Although there is plenty of romance and comedy in the books, they are primarily modern mysteries with an outrageous cast of secondary characters that add down to earth humor.

Evanovich became the first in her family to attend college. After graduating from South River High School she went on to attend Douglass College, part of Rutgers University. Janet Evanovich married her husband Pete in 1964. When she had her son, Peter and daughter, Alexandra, she decided to become a stay at home mom to raise her children. She first began writing in her thirties and had trouble publishing her first three manuscripts. Someone suggested she try writing romance novels. She had written two romance novels and still had not found anyone to publish them and became discouraged. She stopped writing and instead signed on with a temporary employment agency. After she worked there for several months, she received an offer to publish her second romance manuscript. She wrote and published multiple short romance novels before creating the world of Stephanie Plum. She has also written several other series, including the ‘Wicked’ Series, the ‘Alex Barnaby’ series, and the newer ‘Fox and O’Hare series featuring an FBI Agent and her partner, a notorious thief on the FBI’s Most Wanted List.

4 out of 5 stars to Eleven on Top, the 11th book in the "Stephanie Plum" cozy mystery series by Janet Evanovich. This book was one of the more funny in the series, particularly for two reasons: Stephanie is being chased by someone who came back from the grave. She thought the person was dead, but it'......more

This was shaping up to be a 3-star book for me because Stephanie decides to stop being a bounty hunter and goes from stupid job to stupid job in her search for something different. I was pretty meh on that part because she didn't quit for the right reasons. She has literally been tortured in past bo......more

Even when she decides she's going to dump the job and get another, Steph still tries hard at every job she gets. Even fast food. Anyone who has ever worked in that industry knows how hard that can be. Love how, in the end, she doesn't let the alpha boys in her life to stop her. Steph takes the bad g......more

*** 4.55 *** Stephanie and Lula's lives are hilariously pathetic! They suck at everything they do, but despite that and their rotten luck, they might get down for a tad, but their relentless optimism and lust for life keeps them going! I want to have that attitude every time life gets tough! I alread......more

Quotes

“Narrator King steps neatly into Stephanie's shoes, her agile voice conveying not only Stephanie's fear and frustration, but her plaintive, why-does-this-always-happen-to-me attitude. King also nails the manly, mysterious voice of gorgeous bounty hunter Ranger, Stephanie's sometime superhero....her vocal stylings are generally as superb as Evanovich's zany characterizations.” —Publishers Weekly on the unabridged audio of Ten Big Ones

“Narrator Lorelei King does a fabulous job--each character is assigned a distinctive voice, thus milking the humor for every drop.” —The Boston Globe on To the Nines

“Narrator King somehow makes the crazy, comic antics of Evanovich's irresistible bond agent, Stephanie Plum, seem almost rational in this fine audio adaptation...With plenty of prior experience narrating Evanovich titles, King has no trouble highlighting the eccentricities of the author's invariably quirky cast of characters...King's chameleon voice and ease with accents make this a lively listening experience.” —Publishers Weekly on To the Nines

“Stellar voice performer Lorelei King gives a captivating spin to the characters in Janet Evanovich's ninth Stephanie Plum novel.” —Denton Record Chronicle on To the Nines
